Navigating a New World
From Island to Prairie
Moving to a new country takes a profound act of courage. The new culture is bewilderingly different and the language is unfamiliar. While Island to Prairie Ámáári offers a helping hand, our ultimate goal is to foster self-reliance.
For comparison, it’s like a Minnesotan traveling to the Boundary Waters for the first time: you’re surrounded by beauty, but all familiar landmarks are gone. To get anywhere, you need a map you can’t quite read (the new language) and a compass (cultural knowledge). You’re used to getting around in a car. Now, you’re learning to paddle a boat. You’d probably want an experienced guide.
We work to be that guide—not to paddle for you but to teach you how to read the map, navigate the waters, and gain the confidence to explore this new wilderness on your own.
Navigating Life, Together
From island to prairie, or prairie to remote rivers, every journey moves forward more smoothly with a guide—and more surely when a bridge connects us.
Chuukese families are navigating new systems. Minnesotans are reaching across cultures. This is where we meet—sharing tools, stories, and steps forward.
